Being involved with podcasting over the last ten years or so has given me exposure to so much more of this world than if I had settled for the blasé gigging and teaching scene post-military circa 2015.
Whether through interviews I’ve done myself, or produced for the number of clients I’ve served over the years, it’s truly eye opening to hear the wide variety of perspectives on so many different
topics.
Interestingly enough, and perhaps not surprisingly, I’ve somehow gained a bit of a niche with folks who have a passion for things related to spirituality, wellness, fitness, things of that nature.
To be clear, a good deal of things that are said on these shows that I produce would not pass the smell test of sound doctrine at the Greek Orthodox Church I attend, but my clients are good people, and hearing these different ways of thinking is actually
helpful in forming my own thoughts and beliefs in that area.
So if someone has a message to share that has to do with God (or whatever your philosophy professor calls God) and wants to create some digital content related to that, I’m your Huckleberry.
But I have to draw the line somewhere, and this morning I realized just where that line is.
I was introduced via a mutual friend to someone who said he was in need of some help creating
videos, audios, etc. for a project he was working on. He seemed pretty passionate about it, so I was naturally interested in what he had to say.
And what he had to say turned me off immediately.
Without boring you with the details, he rather arrogantly that God had “promoted” him to the rank of Prophet. Oh, and the devil also interfered with his nomination for the Congressional Medal of Honor.
My reply to him was simple: I don’t work with
heretics and narcissists.
I can work with anyone who has differing beliefs from mine, provided they’re respectful and work hard to promote their own message (and pay their bills more or less on time).
But people like that are trouble - even if they do pay their bills.
Thankfully not everyone I meet is a heretic and narcissist like that; so if you or someone you know is thinking about doing something related to clicking a button
that says “publish” check out what we have to offer at Podcast Artistry.
